Charities of Connecticut Connecticut Association of Nonprofits The mission of the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits is to support and strengthen nonprofit organizations in building and sustaining healthy communities in Connecticut. To achieve this mission, the Connecticut Association of Nonprofits is committed to the following goals: Enhance public recognition of the importance and role of the nonprofit sector to the people of Connecticut; Provide access to high quality assistance and information on effective nonprofit management and practices; Advocate on issues that affect the capacity of all nonprofits to address their communities’ needs; Foster communication and cooperation among nonprofits. Connecticut Council for Philanthropy The Connecticut Council for Philanthropy, Connecticut’s regional association of grant makers, works to promote and support effective philanthropy for the public good in Connecticut. The Council’s more than 100 members include family, independent and community foundations, corporate foundations and giving programs, and federated funds. Founded in 1969, the Council is an objective voice to advance the case for philanthropy. Family Support America, formerly Family Resource Coalition of America, promotes family support as the nationally recognized movement to strengthen and support families and places the principles of family support practice at the heart of every setting in which children and families are present. By identifying and connecting individuals and organizations that have contact with families; by providing technical assistance, training and education, conferences, and publications; and by promoting the voice of families, Family Support America is taking family support to scale as the national strategy for ensuring the well-being of our children today and in the years to come. Girls and Boys Town, the original Father Flanagan’s Boys’ Home, is a leader in the treatment and care of abused, abandoned and neglected girls and boys. Throughout its 85-year history, the nonprofit, nonsectarian organization has provided these children with a safe, caring, loving environment where they gain the confidence to get better and learn the skills to become productive citizens.
