At United Way of the Capital Area, nearly 90¢ out of every dollar raised is used to fund eight Targeted Areas of Care: Ensuring Children are Successful, Strengthening Families, Providing Basic Human Needs, Supporting Older People, Increasing Self- Sufficiency, Fostering Healthy and Safe Neighborhoods, Promoting Neighborhood Arts & Heritage, and Community Health Charities of Connecticut.
The United Way Community Campaign funds more than 125 health and human service programs ranging from teaching positive alternatives to violence for youths to providing shelter and food for the homeless. The United Way Community Campaign is committed to ensuring that donations go to agencies that will use them efficiently and effectively to help people who need help the most.
