Who We Are United Way of the Capital Area is a nonprofit organization that has been meeting human care needs in the 40 towns throughout north central Connecticut for 80 years. With its network of partner agencies, volunteers and community leaders, our United Way takes a leadership role in changing conditions to improve lives in the Greater Hartford region. Through United Way’s Community Care, donors’ gifts are invested in programs to ensure success for children, strong and healthy families and a thriving community. Programs funded through Community Care are researched and monitored by knowledgeable, experienced volunteers to be certain that they maintain the highest levels of governance and financial accountability.
