Resource Distribution Local volunteers determine how donors' dollars will be used to most effectively meet the needs in our community. Resource distribution volunteers help assess community needs and determine the appropriate level of support to agency programs that serve individuals, families, and neighborhoods in our 40-town region. More than 100 volunteers participate in resource distribution processes that take place in the Capital Area and in the communities served by our six-affiliated United Ways. Volunteers with backgrounds in fields such as banking, finance, health and human services, human resources, law, and public administration evaluate hundreds of community programs to determine which are the most responsive to our community needs. Funding decisions are based on outcome evaluations of the program, in addition to financial and budget review. Resource distribution committees make funding recommendations to the Board of Directors in June. Funding commences in July and runs through the following June. If you would like more information, or would like to become a resource distribution volunteer, contact Jennifer Gifford at (860) 493-1113 or jgifford@uwcact.org.
