The Well-managed Classroom The Well-managed Classroom, an initiative of United Way of the Capital Area, seeks to ensure that all children in the greater Hartford region will be valued and will have the opportunity to be successful in their schools and communities. United Way of the Capital Area directs a majority of resources to programs for children, families, and community development. The Well-managed Classroom (WMC) has added to this focus by funding innovative programs and developing new community-school partnerships. The initiative currently supports the implementation of the Girls and Boys Town Classroom Management Program in the Hartford Public Schools and the Windsor Locks Middle School. The Well-managed Classroom also supports an assessment of Hartford's network of summer programs, part of a collaborative led by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and including Hartford Public Schools, the Capital Region Workforce Development Board, the City of Hartford's Human Services Dept., and the Hartford Courant Foundation.
